MwareTV partners with Dolby to power IGADO’s new streaming service

This case study explores how MwareTV enhanced video playback quality and increased operational efficiency by integrating THEOplayer’s React Native SDK, leading to market success in Africa with IGADO+.

Key features include a full-fledged TV management system (TVMS), content delivery, robust DRM capabilities, and cutting-edge equipment for encoding, transcoding, as well as CatchupTV & CloudPVR storage solutions.

The App Builder, a core component of the MwareTV TVMS, provides a complete solution for launching, maintaining and monetizing video streaming services. It offers everything needed to support a sophisticated, premium, multi-channel service in a completely customizable, cloud-hosted form. With no-coding required, MwareTV empowers customers to effortlessly launch, manage, and generate revenue in just a few days.

MwareTV’s comprehensive OTT solution supports applications on 15 platforms including Web, iOS, tvOS, Android, Android TV, Fire TV, Roku, Tizen and WebOS. With deployments in over 25 countries, delivering consistent, top-tier video playback across platforms is essential for meeting the diverse needs of MwareTV’s clients worldwide.

This case study explores how MwareTV enhanced video playback quality and increased operational efficiency by integrating THEOplayer’s React Native SDK, leading to market success in Africa with IGADO+.

The Challenge

MwareTV initially developed their in-house video player using open-source and native solutions like ExoPlayer, Shaka Player, and AVPlayer. To achieve cross-platform availability, they had to integrate different video players with varying APIs and features. Moreover, using React Native as their development framework required bridging features and connectors for DRM and ads solutions, necessitating separate iOS and Android engineering teams.

The video player is just one part of the MwareTV TVMS. However, the significant time and resource investments required for video player development and maintenance led MwareTV to seek a reliable commercial video player solution to efficiently manage video playback. This strategic move aimed to save valuable time and costs in video player maintenance, allowing MwareTV to focus more resources on further expanding and optimizing the MwareTV proposition, to accelerate their expansion in Africa.

The Solution

After evaluating commercial video player options based on platform compatibility, Quality of Experience, support, feature richness, and the availability of DRM, advertising, and analytics connectors, MwareTV chose Dolby’s THEOplayer as their preferred solution.

Integrating the React Native SDK into their OTT apps ensures viewers can expect exceptional video playback quality across a wide range of devices and platforms.

The SDK offers a suite of premium features such as offline playback, picture-in-picture, preview thumbnails, and more. Additionally, it comes with an experienced support team and also has ready-made DRM connectors, providing MwareTV customers with straightforward means to safeguard their video streams.

“MwareTV is delighted to join forces with Dolby. This strategic partnership marks a pivotal moment in the evolution of cloud-based TV platforms. By seamlessly integrating Dolby’s THEOplayer into our ecosystem, we’re revolutionizing video playback quality across every screen. The integration not only enhances the visual journey but also empowers our customers to embark on this transformation without the complexities of coding.”
Sander Kerstens, CEO of MwareTV
